Destination Wedding DJ in Bordeaux, Saint-Émilion & Dordogne

About

Jean-Christophe Morin ÔLOCO DJ mariage anniversaire entreprise

Who I am

I’m Jean-Christophe Morin, DJ and founder of ÔLOCO, based near Bordeaux in South West France. Music has always played an important part in my life, but my journey hasn’t only been about DJing.

Before ÔLOCO, I spent many years working internationally for large companies, combining project management with a life abroad. After 22 years living abroad, including Berlin and Kuala Lumpur, I’m fully bilingual in French and English and particularly comfortable working with international and multicultural weddings.

My musical culture is broad and genuinely eclectic: from iconic dancefloor favourites to indie, rock, pop-punk, disco, house and hip-hop — including the deeper cuts that mean something to you and your friends.

New Order, Fatboy Slim, Arctic Monkeys and A Tribe Called Quest give you a glimpse of my own musical DNA — but certainly not its limits.

During my years abroad, DJing became an increasingly important part of my life and shaped the way I play today. Being exposed to very different cultures and musical references taught me to create connections between genres, generations and nationalities — something that takes on a whole new meaning when guests from different parts of the world share the same dance floor.

Today, that is still what I enjoy most: building those connections and gradually raising the energy until everyone simply lets go and dances.

ÔLOCO — Brazilian slang for “Wow!”, an expression of surprise and enthusiasm.

How I work

ÔLOCO is a music agency offering elegance, modernity, and simplicity to create a refined, tailor-made atmosphere that reflects your style. We deliver professionalism and peace of mind through flawless preparation and organization for every key moment of your big day.

No intrusive microphone antics or showy DJ performances — just meticulous planning with you to perfectly match the vibe of your wedding. Your playlist will be unique, reflecting your most meaningful moments, and mixed with rare, striking flair.

Forget the flashy, superficial setups — we bring an elegant, refined sound and lighting design, carefully adapted to enhance your venue and match the scale of your event.

LET THE PARTY BEGIN.

Your Wedding

Every wedding has its own rhythm. The idea is not to follow a standard formula, but to create a celebration that feels like you, from the first moments of the day to the last dance.

Your music, your guests, your venue and the atmosphere you want to create are the starting point. From there, everything is designed to flow naturally: music that evolves throughout the day, the right level of presence at the right moment, and the flexibility to adapt when plans change.

Whether you are planning from France or from abroad, I work closely with you and, when relevant, your wedding planner and venue so that the musical and technical side of the day is prepared well in advance.

The aim is simple: for everything to feel effortless on the day, so you can be fully present and enjoy it.

Ceremony

Your ceremony deserves the same attention as the party that follows.

Entrance music, readings, vows, rituals and your exit are prepared with you in advance and played at exactly the right moment. Wireless microphones ensure that every word can be heard clearly, while the technical setup remains as discreet as possible.

Speakers, cables and my own position are considered with particular care so that neither the equipment nor the person behind it competes with the setting, the decoration or your photographer’s images. The idea is simple: your guests should hear everything beautifully, without being reminded of the equipment – or the DJ – making it possible.

Whether your ceremony takes place in a château courtyard, a garden, among the vines or somewhere far from a power supply, an autonomous sound system means you can choose the setting you love without letting technical constraints dictate the location.

When needed, I coordinate directly with your celebrant, wedding planner and other suppliers so that, when the ceremony begins, the technology disappears and the moment takes over.

Drinks Reception / Cocktail Hour

The drinks reception is already part of the celebration — and the music should reflect that.

I perform a live DJ set tailored to you and your guests, starting wherever the atmosphere calls for and gradually building the energy as the reception unfolds. Jazz, crooners, soul, funk, disco, deep house or something more personal: the direction comes from your tastes rather than a standard cocktail playlist.

The sound is carefully balanced to create an atmosphere without competing with conversation, and if your reception takes place in a different part of the venue, everything can be prepared in advance so the music is already there when your guests arrive.

If you have a saxophonist, singer or other live musicians, I can also coordinate with them so that the live performance and DJ set complement each other throughout the reception.

Dinner

Dinner has its own rhythm, and the music should evolve with it. The atmosphere can remain elegant and relaxed or gradually become more upbeat as the evening progresses, without getting in the way of conversation.

Your entrance, speeches, surprises, cake cutting and other key moments are prepared and coordinated in advance, with microphones available so everyone can be heard clearly.

I can make the announcements you need, or work alongside your wedding planner, MC or chosen member of the wedding party. Present when needed, discreet when not.

And because wedding schedules rarely run exactly to plan, I stay in contact with the other suppliers and adapt as the evening unfolds.

You enjoy dinner, the speeches and the people around you. I keep an eye on the rest.

Evening Reception & Dancing

And then comes the moment when the dance floor takes centre stage.

Starting from your tastes and those of your guests, I build the night in real time: from the songs that bring everyone together to the deeper cuts that mean something to your crowd, across generations, genres and nationalities.

Your favourite tracks, must-plays and do-not-plays are prepared in advance, but the order, musical direction and pace of the set are shaped by what is actually happening on the dance floor. I pay particular attention to mixing, transitions and the progression of energy, connecting different musical worlds without losing the crowd along the way.

How open I am to guest requests is entirely your choice. If you want them, I’m very happy to take requests and weave them into the night when they work. If you’d rather keep the musical direction between us, that’s absolutely fine too.

Sound and lighting evolve with the night. The lighting follows the dynamics of the music – its builds, breaks and changes of energy – rather than simply running through effects, while remaining elegant and respectful of your venue.

And when the time comes to bring the celebration to a close – whether you have planned a last dance, a final song, or simply want to keep going until your venue’s curfew – the ending deserves just as much attention as the beginning.

From the first dance to the last, the aim is simple: keep building the energy until everyone lets go and dances.

Getting Married at Château de Laubardemont?

A wedding at Château de Laubardemont is more than just one special day. It’s a chance to spend an entire weekend celebrating with your favourite people, in a beautiful French château full of character and possibilities.

Working in partnership with Château de Laubardemont and its Guinguette, I offer a tailored musical experience designed around the venue and the different moments of your wedding weekend.

From Friday’s welcome party to Saturday’s celebrations and Sunday’s relaxed brunch, each gathering can have its own atmosphere, while everything feels connected by one thing: your personalities, your musical tastes and the joy of bringing everyone together.

Friday — Let the Weekend Begin!

Your guests are arriving, old friends are reconnecting and the celebrations are about to begin.

The Guinguette du Château is the perfect setting for a relaxed welcome party, with a DJ set that follows the mood of the evening. Think laid-back grooves, feel-good favourites and, if the moment calls for it, a proper party before the big day.

And why stop there? The evening can continue at the château itself, turning your welcome party into a memorable first night of celebrations.

Saturday — Your Wedding, Your Soundtrack

From the ceremony and drinks reception to dinner and the dance floor, every part of your wedding deserves its own musical atmosphere.

Together, we’ll create a soundtrack that reflects who you are, with thoughtful music choices, seamless transitions and sound and lighting tailored to the venue.

No generic wedding playlists, no forced entertainment. Just great music, careful planning and a natural feel for bringing different generations together on the dance floor.

Sunday — One More Moment Together

After the excitement of the wedding day, Sunday is all about slowing down, sharing stories and enjoying a little more time together before everyone heads home.

A warm, carefully selected soundtrack provides the perfect backdrop to your farewell brunch, keeping things relaxed and leaving plenty of room for conversation.

One Weekend, Your Way

Whether you’re looking for a DJ for your wedding day alone or would love music throughout the entire weekend, everything is flexible.

Choose the moments that matter to you, and we’ll shape the experience around your plans, your guests and the atmosphere you want to create.

Let’s Make Your Château de Laubardemont Weekend Unforgettable!

Already have a few ideas? Not quite sure where to start?

Get in touch to explore the possibilities, ask questions and plan a wedding weekend that truly feels like you, from the first welcome drinks to the final goodbyes.

Mix

Sometimes a few minutes of music say more than a long explanation.

These short mixes are here to give you a feel for the way I DJ: how I build transitions, connect different genres and eras, and gradually shape the energy of a set.

The selections are deliberately personal. Alongside familiar tracks, you’ll hear remixes, deeper cuts and a few less obvious choices. They are not a preview of what I would play at your wedding – your music will be built around your tastes, your guests and what works on the dance floor on the day.

I’ve deliberately kept each mix compact — around 30 minutes and 15 tracks — so the music moves faster than it would during a real wedding, where tracks have more room to breathe and the pace evolves with the crowd.

Ultimately, these mixes are less about what I would play for you and more about how I connect the music I play.

Pricing

Every destination wedding is different. A celebration in a Bordeaux château, a vineyard in Saint-Émilion or a country estate in the Dordogne may involve different spaces, timings, technical requirements and sometimes more than one day of celebrations.

That’s why I don’t offer a one-size-fits-all price. Your quote is based on what your wedding actually requires — from the ceremony, drinks reception, dinner and dancing to, when needed, a welcome party the night before or a relaxed gathering the following day.

Once I understand your plans, venue and what matters to you, you’ll receive a clear, detailed quote with everything agreed in advance — and no unexpected extras afterwards.

If you’re planning from abroad, everything can be discussed remotely and in English, directly with you or together with your wedding planner.

Tell me about your wedding and I’ll put together a proposal tailored to your celebration.

JC made our wedding party unforgettable!
Music was one of the most important elements for us when planning our wedding, and hiring JC was without a doubt the best decision we made. Having attended several weddings in the past few years, we can confidently say JC was by far the best DJ we’ve ever heard.
From our very first interaction, he was responsive, informative, and completely put us at ease whenever we had questions about how the evening would flow. He is super pleasant, enthusiastic, and wonderfully personable. It truly felt like he was as excited about our big day as we were! On top of that, he was even in cahoots with my mum to pull off a surprise flash mob, which turned out to be one of my favourite moments of the entire wedding.
Being bilingual in French and English was invaluable for us. My husband doesn’t speak French and most of our guests were English speakers, so JC’s ability to seamlessly command the room and bridge the language gap made everyone feel included and energised.
When it came to the dancefloor, he hit every mark. He stayed completely faithful to our tastes and wishes while expertly reading the crowd, adapting to the energy levels and the different demographics dancing throughout the night. We had the absolute best time, it was genuinely hard to take a break because song after song was a hit!
Many of our guests came up to us during the night and in the days after to tell us how incredible our DJ was. If you want a seamless, high-energy party tailored perfectly to you, look no further than JC. We couldn’t recommend him more highly!

Ôloco – Jean-Christophe – was the perfect DJ for our wedding. We had spoken with several potential vendors, and Jean-Christophe stood out from the very first exchanges. He truly listened to our ideas and wishes while offering thoughtful guidance to ensure both the day and the evening unfolded perfectly.
Our wedding took place in Bordeaux and brought together a mix of French and Irish guests of all ages. Jean-Christophe immediately put us at ease, especially regarding the flow of the evening, making sure every generation would enjoy themselves throughout the night.
For the preparations, Jean-Christophe suggested sharing playlists through the platforms we use. He was responsive, available by email, and even visited the venue with us to plan the setup and dance floor. We also chose Ôloco for our symbolic ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and evening party. Jean-Christophe’s equipment is high-quality and well suited to all parts of the day: wireless, discreet speakers for the ceremony (perfect for photos), a full professional setup with excellent sound (lighting, top-quality speakers, microphones, tidy cabling, extensions, power management). He handles all logistics completely independently.
During the event, Jean-Christophe matched the musical atmosphere we wanted for each moment based on our playlists (ceremony, cocktail, dinner, and party). He also responded to requests from our witnesses and families throughout the day and adapted perfectly to our planned “moments” and surprises.
He guided us toward a progressive musical structure that kept all guests — of all ages — having the best possible time, while fully respecting the genres we did not want.
In terms of mixing quality, Jean-Christophe is a true professional — every bit as polished as the rest of his service. He crafted each playlist, remixed tracks for the evening, and delivered transitions of a quality we had rarely experienced. He even adapted to last-minute timing changes and guest requests (filtering them with good judgement), and played longer than initially planned, always with a positive attitude.

We are extremely grateful for his support, which reassured us at every stage. His performance exceeded our expectations. We recommend him wholeheartedly. All our guests stayed until the very end of the night — even the eldest — and many complimented the quality of the sound throughout the entire event. We wish you all the best in your upcoming projects.

We had the absolute pleasure of working with JC for our wedding at Château du Taillan, and he was phenomenal! Not only did he handle the vin d’honneur perfectly, but his sound system for the speeches and lighting for the band were spot on. And of course, the late-night tunes kept everyone on the dance floor! JC was incredibly professional, but more than that, he’s a genuinely great guy. He was always available for the many, many, many questions we had leading up to the big day, and his patience was endless! Thank you, JC, for helping make our day unforgettable.
If are looking for a well organised, professional, highly talented and an a gentleman, JC is your guy. Also I write this review In Englishn for all foreigners out there, Jc is completely Bilingual which made our bilingual wedding run so smooth.
We look forward to supporting your future events. Thank you !! 😊

Frequently asked questions

Music & The Party

Can we choose the music for our wedding?

Absolutely. Your tastes come before mine.

During the planning, we’ll discuss the music you love, the songs that matter to you, your must-plays and anything you definitely don’t want to hear. You can be as involved as you wish – from sharing a few favourite tracks to building a much more detailed selection.

On the night, I use that preparation as my framework while adapting the order, pace and musical direction to what is actually happening on the dance floor.

Do you take requests from guests?

That is entirely your choice.

Some couples love their guests being able to make requests; others prefer the musical direction to remain between us. We decide that together beforehand.

If requests are welcome, I’m very open to them – provided they fit the atmosphere you want and make sense at that moment of the night.

Can you cater for different nationalities and generations?

Yes — and it’s one of the things I particularly enjoy.

With 22 years spent living abroad and a broad musical culture, I’m very comfortable with international and multicultural weddings. We can prepare the musical references that matter to each side of your families and friends, while avoiding the feeling of simply taking turns between different nationalities or generations.

The challenge – and the fun – is finding the connections that bring everyone onto the same dance floor.

Do you act as an MC?

I can make the announcements you need and introduce key moments, but I don’t impose myself on the microphone or turn your wedding into an entertainment show.

If you have a wedding planner, toastmaster, MC or a member of the wedding party taking that role, I’m equally happy to work alongside them.

Present when needed, discreet when not.

Planning Your Wedding in France

We live abroad. How does the planning work?

Very simply. The entire preparation can be handled remotely and in English.

We arrange video calls at the key stages, share music and information online, and I can liaise directly with your wedding planner, venue and other suppliers in France when needed.

By the time you arrive for your wedding, the musical and technical details have already been taken care of.

Do you work with wedding planners and other suppliers?

Yes. I regularly coordinate with venues, wedding planners, celebrants, photographers, musicians and other suppliers.

This is particularly useful for destination weddings, where several people may be involved in the schedule. The more we coordinate beforehand, the less you need to think about on the day.

Can you provide music for our welcome party or the day after the wedding?

Yes. Destination weddings often extend beyond the wedding day itself.

Depending on your plans, I can also provide music and DJ sets for a welcome party, pre-wedding evening, poolside gathering or day-after celebration.

These can be included in the proposal when we discuss your wedding weekend.

Practical Details

What happens if the ceremony, drinks reception and party are in different areas?

That’s absolutely fine. I can set up separate sound systems in different areas of the venue, so there is no need to move equipment while your guests are moving from one part of the celebration to another.

This also means music can already be playing when they arrive in the next space.

For outdoor ceremonies or locations without access to electricity, fully autonomous equipment can also be used.

How will our wedding be lit?

Lighting is part of the wedding service and is designed around your venue, its architecture and the atmosphere you want to create.

During dinner, the approach is warm and understated. For your first dance and the party, the lighting evolves with the music and the energy on the dance floor rather than simply running through effects.

I also pay particular attention to photography and video: no aggressive lighting or unwanted colours at important moments, and I’m happy to coordinate with your photographer when needed.

The aim is for the lighting to enhance your venue and your photographs, not compete with them.

Do you charge by the hour?

No. My wedding service is not based on an hourly rate.

The time needed to prepare your wedding is part of the service, whether that means a few conversations or more detailed planning with you, your wedding planner, venue or other suppliers.

The same principle applies on the wedding day: I’m there for the experience we have planned together, not to watch the clock. The schedule can evolve, dinner can run late and plans can change without turning every extra moment into an additional charge.

The only limits are those agreed with your venue, such as its permitted finishing time.

Your wedding should take the time it needs.

Are you insured and do you provide all the necessary equipment?

Yes. I carry professional liability insurance and provide the professional sound, lighting and microphone equipment required for the services agreed in your proposal.

Setup and breakdown are included, so there are no separate technical arrangements for you to organise.

Sound & Lighting

Good sound and lighting should enhance the experience, not draw attention to the equipment behind it.

Sound is adapted to your venue, your guests and the different spaces used throughout the day. Where needed, separate and fully autonomous setups allow each part of your wedding to take place exactly where you want it.

Lighting is treated with the same care. Architectural uplighting enhances the character of your venue, while dance-floor lighting evolves with the music and its energy rather than simply running through effects.

I don’t build the experience around a menu of technical upgrades. The equipment needed is part of the service: uplighting, sound and lighting are adapted to the size and character of your venue, your decoration and the atmosphere we want to create.

During dinner, speeches and your first dance, lighting remains subtle and photography-friendly, without unwanted colours or effects competing with the moment.

One principle throughout: sound and lighting should enhance the experience while blending naturally into your venue, its decoration and the atmosphere we create.
